New Mask Mandate for MA takes effect on May 29th
To review, the current Mask Order is the following:
Face coverings required outdoors when unable to maintain 6 feet from other people
Face coverings are still required at all times in indoor public places.
Face coverings are still required at all times at events, whether held indoors or outdoors and whether held in a public space or private home, except for when eating or drinking.
At smaller gatherings in private homes, face coverings are recommended but not required.
Mask Update for Schools per The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education:
After consultation with the MA COVID Command Center’s Medical Advisory Board, the Governor announced that given the low rate of outdoor transmission of COVID-19, students no longer have to wear masks when outdoors, even if distance cannot be maintained. This guidance update applies to recess, physical education, youth sports, and outdoor learning environments. Adults must continue to wear masks outdoors if distancing cannot be maintained. At this time, adults and students must continue to wear masks indoors.
Kindness Matters. Distance Matters. Please remind your child that some students may choose to keep their mask on when outside for different reasons and to be respectful of their decision and to continue to spread kindness. Also, social distancing even when outside is important to maintain as a mitigation strategy to prevent spread.
