Hello Littleton Parents and Young Women Engineers!
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) has created an engineering outreach program for K to 12th grade girls. This program supports and encourages young girls in their pursuit of engineering. Becoming part of a professional society like SWE is an important part of developing into an engineer. Use this url to find out more about SWENext outreach programs - https://swe.org/k-12-outreach/swenext/swenext-clubs/
The LSC (Laura Schuler Cossette) Charitable fund has partnered with SWE to create a SWENext program for 5th, 6th and 7th grade girls from Maynard Acton/Boxborough and Littleton. Our club name is MABLE SWENext. We had our first club meeting on Feb 5th. At that meeting one of our Engineering volunteers, Alissa Fernald performed a demo with a bioreactor. The students have also started to design their own club logo. Our next meeting club meeting is on March 19th where we will continue to perform exciting engineering challenges. We would like to invite your child to join MABLE SWENext Club. Students under 13 years of age require parental approval to join. To join MABLE go to our new website at https://mableswenextclub.com/ and scroll down to join group.
MABLE SWENext Club Mission Statement
Inspire and encourage young women to discover their passion for engineering, as well as raising awareness of diversity, equality, and inclusion. This inspiration and encouragement come from projects with students, the promotion of lectures with prominent women engineers in the community, and meetings between students to exchange experiences.

Laura Schuler Cossette passed away from breast cancer in April 2017. Laura was an alumnus of Maynard High School. She had a reputation for putting others ahead of her ambitions and cared deeply about women’s issues. So, to best honor her memory, her family, friends and colleagues have created the Laura Schuler Cossette Charitable Fund to benefit current and future women engineers. This non-profit Fund is administered by the Society of Women Engineers Southern NH Section (SWE-SNH) with activity.
